Fans of vocalist ELLEN O'BRIEN have several opportunities through the summer and fall to enjoy her powerful voice while they experience Lydia Shire's fabulous fare at her new restaurant, Blue Sky, at the Atlantic House, 2 Beach Street, York Beach, Maine (207-363-0050; www.blueskyonyorkbeach.com).  The popular Boston-based singer (and three-time winner of the Apollo Theater Competition) is the featured act every Thursday evening through the fall from 7:30 to 10:30 and Sundays through the summer from 6 to 9pm. Ellen performs with either Mark Rasmussen or Steve Aubert on keyboard, or John Baboian on guitar. 

Ellen O'Brien is a Revere native, Berklee College of Music alumna, and three-time winner of the Apollo Theater Competition. She has performed in England at the Birmingham Jazz Festival and sold out shows at jazz clubs throughout England fronting British guitarist Dylan Kay's band. In 2006, she performed at Boston 's sixth annual BeanTown Jazz Festival, following sold-out shows in February and July at New York City's famed Blue Note Jazz Club. Ellen's soulful mix of jazz, blues, and pop had a packed house at the Regattabar on their feet pleading for more after a high-energy, two-and-a-half-hour set.

In 2005, Ellen performed with Keith Lockhart and the Boston POPS Orchestra at Symphony Hall.  Her CD, Hope is All Around Us - Ellen O'Brien, released by Parr Audio, operated by engineer-to-the-stars Jim Parron Martha's Vineyard, features members of Carly Simon's band and includes jazz, pop, blues, and soul.
